Fixing information

Care must be taken when fitting panels with flat tray pans to avoid causing dents and creases to these un-stiffened and delicate areas.

IMPORTANT: It is advisable to minimise foot traffic on roof installations to avoid unnecessary damage to the sheeting.

Remove strippable film prior to fitting panels.

The Minimum Pitch is 3 degrees for roofing applications (38mm rib only to be used for roofing). Maximum unsupported overhang is 60mm for roofs and 100mm for walls. Do not allow traffic on completed roof. If required provide cushioned walk boards.

Drip edges or effective turn downs should be formed at gutters to prevent capillary caused leakages.

Panels should be fixed to:

15mm CD grade plywood substrate on max support spacing for plywood substrate at 540mm centers or 17mm CD grade plywood substrate on max support spacing for plywood substrate at 600mm centers. All Plywood joins and edges must be flush and true. Uneven substrate may cause increased unwanted aesthetic imperfections to be visible.

Fixing to steel battens is not recommended.

A Breathable vapor barrier such as CSR “Proctor Wrap RW” for walls or “ProctorWrap HT-R for roofing” or Fletchers “Sisalation Vapawrap Metal Roof” should be fitted beneath StripLock™ sheeting and laid over plywood prior to fixing.

Clips shall be fastened every 300mm within 1.2m of roof perimeter (or 20% for the building size whichever is greater) and 600mm for general areas not about the roof perimeter. Screw heads must be flush with substrate. Remove strippable film prior to fitting panels.

The “sheet starter rib” should be secured with a 0.55 sheet metal over-strap or by screwing through the pan next to the starting rib taking great care not to cause a dent in the sheeting. Flash over the starting rib to conceal fastening.

Next, the under-lap of the sheet has clips secured over and fastened to the substrate with two 8g-10x25 countersunk head or pan head screws with a minimum class 3 coating. It is important to select a flat headed screw that will not cause dents to the sheet when fitted. The next sheet is then fixed with the overlap placed over the previous sheet’s Underlap and “snap” clipped in place. Continue to fasten Underlaps with clips and snap on following sheets to end of run. Fasten edge of last sheet and flash to conceal fixing.

Thermal expansion of the sheeting is 2.9mm on average per 5 meters of sheet length for 50 degrees Celsius temperature change.

StripLock™ clips can allow the sheet to expand and contract with thermal changes however, no warranties against thermal expansion noise are provided. Using a quality vapor permeable water proof barrier may reduce noise from thermal expansion and contraction is recommended.

Some oil canning effect may be evident in this product and may be caused by a number of reasons. For example, oil canning can be due to un-trueness in the flatness of the buildings substrate, turning up or down the sheet ends, handling onsite, inherent (expected) shape in the feed coil; this is expected and common in all flat tray sheet metal products is not a product fault. No warranties are offered against the presence or occurrence of oil canning.

Tolerance

Remove all scrap and swarf from completed installation to prevent subsequent Staining from corrosion.
